I Like This Band is a little web app whipped together in about an hour using Echonest‘s API. It simply allows you to enter a musician or band’s name and returns a randomized list of similar artists, with links to search for the artist in Google and Google Video and to add the artist to your Pinboard account.

Joshua says, “I mainly wrote it for myself as a simplified version of feature-rich tools like Pandora or Last.fm. I didn’t want playlists of music or videos or anything like that; I just wanted a little simple way to explore and discover new music.”

We might add more features as time goes by.

Stikki.me is a geolocational microblogging web and mobile application. Users can post and view “stikki” notes attached to real-world geographic locations, which they can share or keep private. Users can attach alerts to stikkis to notify them when they’re within a given distance.

Stikki.me was developed and designed entirely by Standard Nerds president Joshua Ellis. There is currently an iOS app in development, and there is also a mobile version of the site (built using the SenchaTouch framework) and an open API.
